Dr. Karen L. McDermott has practiced in Maryland since 2004. She established her practice at Chesapeake Physical Medicine in 2006. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The University of Bridgeport provided a diverse faculty of practitioners well known for their mastery of technique and philosophy in the different schools of chiropractic. She also has a Masters of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport Nutrition Institute. She is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in Parts I, II, III and IV and Physical Therapy. She is a member of the Maryland Chiropractic Association. Dr. McDermott is licensed to practice chiropractic with physical therapy privileges in the State of Maryland. In completing her internship, she served in clinics for life threatening illnesses throughout Southern Connecticut. Dr. McDermott utilizes an extensive treatment protocol, incorporating chiropractic, rehabilitative and soft tissue techniques. Nutritional counseling is offered when indicated. She is confident that her approach affords the patient effective treatment with long-lasting benefits. She considers it essential to communicate with the patient’s other medical providers to ensure comprehensive treatment of the patient. She has had great success in treating a broad spectrum of conditions, such as: low back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, vertigo, gastro-intestinal problems, asthma and conditions related to pregnancy. She is also trained in the Graston Technique of physical therapy.
Tim is our chiropractic assistant trained in physical therapy protocols. He has been with the company for 10 years. He enjoys spending time with his family, sports, animals and reading.
Kathy has lived in Prince Frederick for the past 16 years with her husband and daughter. For the past 20 years, she has worked in a Chiropractic office and has been an office manager for the last 14 years. She enjoys camping, the beach and spending time with her family.
Dee Dee has been with the front desk receptionist for 2 ½ years. She is a licensed chiropractic assistant and has 7 years of experience working a chiropractic office. She lives in Prince Frederick with her husband David, their dog Harry and cat, Gracie.
Elaine (not pictured) retired from our receptionist position after 5 1/2 years. She still works with us intermittently, on an as-needed basis. She enjoys traveling with her husband Keith.
